PRP Preparation
In preparation for your Platelet Rich Plasma with Micro-needling treatment, please review the information below to ensure you are a good candidate.
Description of PRP treatment: This treatment involves the collection of your blood (approximately 8 –16ml), then your blood is spun down using a centrifuge to separate out the plasma and platelet portion using the separator gel as a special filter. The PRP portion of your blood is then injected back into your skin to stimulate new collagen production, and to re-energize your cells into rejuvenating themselves. The product injected is 100% your own blood by-product (autologous). PRP Contraindications: You should NOT have PRP treatment done if you have any of the following conditions:
- Systemic Cancer
- Steroid Therapy
- On Anti-Coagulation therapy (Celebrex, Aspirin, Warfarin, Plavix)
- Blood or Platelet Disorders
- Active skin Cancer
- Active therapy for topical cancer treatment
Post PRP instructions:
- Avoid washing your face for 8 hours
- Expect slight puffiness, pink color, minor bruising if injections take place
- Do not take Arnica Montana or herbs for 14 days
- No ice post treatment
Description of Micro-needling Treatment: Micro-needling treatment allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair mechanism by creating micro-”injuries” in the skin, which triggers new collagen synthesis, yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring. The result is smoother, firmer and younger-looking skin. Micro-needling procedures are performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of the sterile needle head. The procedure is normally completed within 30 minutes, depending on the required treatment and anatomical site. Micro-needling Contraindications:
- keloid scars
- scleroderma
- collagen vascular diseases
- cardiac abnormalities
- hemorrhagic disorder or haemostatic
- dysfunction, active bacterial or fungal infection
